INSPIRATION TO BECOME A FILMMAKER?

Film has the power of bringing together people from all backgrounds and cultures into a common experience that transports us outside of reality. I want to explore the possibilities of cinema sharing underrepresented human stories in this universal language.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

Everywhere I go, I try to learn about the culture, traditions, imaginary and struggles of communities outside of the mainstream media. In this film I want to explore the human component behind the Standing Rock protest and what it represented for the native community as a powerful moment of connection and healing.

INSPIRATION TO BECOME A FILMMAKER?

Production design compels me because it combines my passion for art and film, while creating meaningful stories that can truly impact others on a deep emotional level.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

I love my team members, and I am excited for the opportunity to explore and create a genuine world that reflects Native American beliefs, struggles, and culture.

INSPIRATION TO BECOME A FILMMAKER?

Film transported me to worlds and perspectives that I would never be able to access. I wanted to bring this same experience to others as a way of educating them about the depth and breadth of the human experience, especially those of people of color.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

We live in a dark political time but I found great hope and inspiration in the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, especially from the courage of these youth. They are far braver than I, and deserve a platform for their story.

Forrest Gump

INSPIRATION TO BECOME A FILMMAKER?

The inspiration came indirectly through my love of watching surfing films. I always thought of how fun it would be to be able to travel and shoot, which I was able to do, and from there it evolved into narrative filmmaking which I came to love even more.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

I wanted to do this project because I'm inspired to tell stories that are not often told and that tell the stories of under-represented people. For me, there was an opportunity to lend my hand and help enhance the story through what I do best with fellow filmmakers that I admire and enjoy working with.

INSPIRATION TO BECOME A FILMMAKER?

The people around me had such interesting and powerful stories that weren't being told. I wanted to see more stories reflecting my own experiences and hopefully be a part of more socially aware filmmaking.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

I believe the power of film is giving a outlet for marginalized voices. I feel this project does a great job of just that.
